Greetings from Ashford, England, site of the 2012 Collaborative Action Research Network (CARN) Conference. I have enjoyed being at CARN with a group of my graduate students from the University of San Diego and with fellow ARNA Organizing Committee members Joe Shosh and Geitza Rebolledo. Today Joe and I facilitated a session on ARNA and received strong support from some veteran CARN members. I also was asked to give a brief report on ARNA’s development at today’s conference-ending CARN Steering Group meeting. I am pleased to share that Steering Group member Jane Springett of the University of Alberta, Canada has agreed to serve as the CARN Liaison to ARNA.
Because education budgets throughout Europe have been cut fairly severely over the past several years, not many of our CARN colleagues will be able to attend our inaugural ARNA conference this coming May. However, a few have indicated that they will try their best to make it, and even more shared that if they cannot make it this year they think they will be able to attend the 2014 ARNA conference in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
I want to say that the support for our organizing effort shown by colleagues here in the UK and from throughout Europe has been quite heart-warming. Our initiative has been well-received, and our intention to work in a collaborative manner to ‘grow the AR movement’ in the Western Hemisphere fits quite nicely with CARN’s increased interest in growing the global AR movement.Lonnie Rowell, from Ashford International Hotel, Ashford, England
